Before executing any drift whether it be sound or video, it is important to develop a strategy. Thus, my second sound walk strategy was to travel a road for one block, take a right, travel that road for two blocks, take a left, and then repeat. This pattern somehow took me down by the river and kept me down there for a while. As for image collecting, I focused on capturing patterns or images that were bright in color. Majority of the colors collected came from signs and flowers. Interesting patterns however are everywhere when you look for them.
I chose to have a semi motionless light to focus on as you experience the sounds in the video. The sounds came from a suspicious buzzing under a sidewalk and from the words of a passer byer, hopefully composed to put you in some sort of thirty second trance.
Colors. Lots and lots of colors. I captured every bright color I confronted on my walk and tried to organized them into a rainbow pattern with hopes of causing your eyes to explode.
On my search for patterns, I began filming things upside down to detach the viewer from seeing the image as an object and really focus on the pattern. This filming upside down then became more of an obsession rather than a strategy. It got to the point where everything I filmed I had to try filming upside down to see if it would look cool. Sometimes it did.
